Canon Camera

If there's one thing we have been loving lately, it's definitely our new camera!

The Digital Canon Rebel T2i
My blog and photo books would be non-existent without it.
The photos and memories that we have been able to capture on this bad boy, are worth EVERY PENNY.
To me... there isn't anything more valuable than the moments that we remember though a great photo.

If you are debating on whether or not to purchase a camera like this.

Stop thinking about it... and do it.

You'll be glad you did.

I promise.

I can only imagine the conversations that would happen at this table...

Dream House

Being in the profession I'm in, I always have visions of the perfect "dream house!" My ideas are constantly changing b/c I see new things so often, but I thought I'd share some of my favorite visions for now b/c this is FUN for me... :)
I love new homes that look "old"...
I love this staircase! The contrast of the dark/white wood, sigh, I'm in love! :)
I love this space... aren't the windows BEA-utiful!?
Here's what I like about this kitchen:
white cabinets, the classic white beveled subway tile backsplash, and the dark/rustic floors -- perfect for this style of home!
I also like the window treatment in this kitchen and the way the cabinets are stacked.
Window seats... perfect in a traditional style home like this. LOVE them!
Again, the contrast of the white casework and the dark, rustic wood floors... stunning. I love these floors!

Neat detail on the wall in this Master Bedroom!

Love, Love, Love a "drop zone" off the garage entry for coats, purses, shoes, mail... (all the stuff that currently collects in our kitchen - drives me CRAZY)!
This is perfect...
 Isn't this outdoor kitchen great?!
Not that I see myself living in this "home" I've thought up in my head anytime in the near future, plus I'm sure most of my ideas will change in 6 months, but for now isn't this the perfect dream house?

 Or, both of them!!

Happy Veteran's Day!

I know this camera phone picture isn't the best, but we got our flag pole up just in time for Veteran's Day!! Ya!!! We love it!
More importantly, THANK YOU to all Veteran's who selflessly give of themselves to protect our freedom!
Happy Veteran's Day!

Today we laid Aunt Deloras to rest. It was a hard day knowing she will no longer be "here," but at the same time it was a day of celebrating the 97 wonderful years she lived.

One of the beautiful bouquets from the Church. PINK was her favorite color.
 Uncle Tom, Grandma, Aunt Barbara
My Cousin Nick and his wife Sarah
Aunt Patti and Uncle Tom
 My Fam w/Gram
Where's Tim? Oh wait... he's hiding behind the flowers! ;)
I stepped outside for a minute and a little boy wearing shorts and cowboy boots (in the background of this pic, what a hoot) was walking an adorable chubby puppy named Chester!
Seriously, how could an adorable, chunky little puppy named Chester not brighten your day?!? :)
I wonder if Aunt Deloras had a hand in this?
I think so.
I'm going to wrap up this blog entry with the poem I read at Aunt Deloras' funeral today.

You can shed tears that she is gone

or you can smile because she has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back

or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her

or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she's gone

or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back

or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

She's In A Better Place Now

It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you my Great Aunt Deloras passed away last night. I know I'm not only speaking for myself when I say knowing her made me a better person. In the 97 years she lived, she touched many lives. One of her silly/witty stories would surely lift your spirits. She could make you laugh until you would cry. She lived life to its fullest. What a joy it was to have someone like her in my life, I will cherish all of the memories. You will be missed Aunt Deloras. We love you.

Too funny!!

I follow a lot of blogs. So I read a lot of blog posts. This one made me laugh!!! Here is the story...
How Did They Let This Happen?
"Max loves wearing his Dad's baseball caps, a different one is usually worn to school each day. On picture day he selected a very bright red cap and I questioned him about wearing it on this particular day. But both he and Isabella assured me the teachers and photographer would make him take it off. Okay, fine.

Then look what came home a couple weeks later!
I have to say, after getting over my initial surprise, I was delighted. This image is exactly him. No retakes here."
Isn't that so funny?!?! And what a cool perspective from his sweet mother. I love this story.

Turkeys!

Usually I try to post fun, simple things on my blog. This one is most definitely fun, but I'm not so sure about the "simple" part... ;)  Oh well, aren't these turkeys cu-ute?!?
Here's what you need for each Turkey...
A little melted chocolate for your "glue"
 ta-da!
I love these little guys! Don't you just want to gobble them up?!? :)

Flags

This is an e mail that my Aunt shared with me, from her neighbor regarding the neighborhood they live in...

"Carla, since you publish the wonderful Fairways Focus Newsletter and seem to keep the email roster for Fairways up to speed, I was wondering if you could make an announcement for me. I belong to a group called the Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an official organization of the Department of Defense. Currently we have approximately 1800 Nebraska military personnel in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan as well as other areas of training and readiness preparation in USA camps. Over 60 % of the troops that have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan have been guard or reserve and have spent many weeks and months away from their families, jobs and the familiarity of home. My point is this, I love to see the Big Red flags on people’s homes but believe with the number of Nebraskans overseas, we need to fly our flag each day and night to show our continued support of those who volunteer to serve their country in Harm’s Way. Could we ask our Fairway friends to fly the Stars and Stripes at least through Christmas but mine will be up until the last one comes home. Thanks."

My Aunt assured me there will be an American Flag in front of every home.
WOW. So touching.
Are you flying your flag?
