Our Memorial Day Weekend!

Since it was such a beautiful weekend, we spent most of it at the lake by the water!
Wilson of course LOVED it and did A LOT of swimming. And, we tried to teach him how to jump off the dock, here's how it went...
"Wilson, you're going to jump off the dock and retrieve your toy!"
"I KNOW you're scared, but you can do it!" :)
look at his little tongue... :)

Still a little scared!

Finally, he did it! :)
And, Tim could sit on the dock all day and fish!
He caught so many fish, I lost track!
(but I'm sure he could tell you how many he caught!) ;)

My cousin brought his adorable puppy, Whiskey!

All Set For Memorial Day!

This weekend Tim and I found these great patriotic swags! I LOVE how they look on our front porch. :)

Red, White, and Blueberry Trifle

I made this for one of our family get-togethers this weekend and it was a huge hit! I found the recipe online and edited it a little bit. Here it is, so yummy!
Red, White, and Blueberry Trifle
2 (8 oz) pkgs cream cheese
2 cups powdered sugar
8 oz sour cream
1 tsp almond flavoring
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 pint whipping cream
1 angel food cake **I used pound cake** (store bought is fine, Wal Mart bakery)
1 quart strawberries
1 quart blueberries
3/4 cup sugar ** I did NOT use this much, more like 1/4 cup, if that**
2 tsp almond flavoring
.......
1. Cream together cream cheese and powdered sugar
2. Add sour cream, vanilla and 1 tsp almond flavoring
3. Set this mixture aside
4. In separate bowl whip the whipping cream, add to cream cheese mixture
5. In separate bowl place strawberries and blueberries with 1/4 c. sugar and 2 tsp almond flavoring
6. In a clear glass or trifle bowl alternate layers of cake, cream cheese mixture, and berries.
7. Garnish the top with berries. I made a star out of blueberries :) The strawberries were supposed to be stripes, but it didn't really turn out looking that way. :-/
8. I prefer making this dessert the day before, so the cake has time to soak up some of the yummy flavors. Enjoy!

Memorial Day

With Tim being back in the military, this holiday is full of personal significance to our little family. Thank you to all of those that have served and those that currently do so.
In November, Tim will deploy to Afghanistan for 1 year. My heart holds a special place for the many men and women that do so very much to protect our freedom.
May you all have a lovely weekend with family and friends and take a moment to reflect on those separated from theirs.
Much Love, Katie

Happy Birthday June!

Last night I headed to Lincoln to help June (my sister-in-law/cousin) celebrate her 32nd birthday! We met for dinner at Venue - a delish modern/contemporary restaurant, and it was opening night for Sex In The City 2, so we headed to the theatre! It was a great time!

Balloon Flip Flops!

Check out these stylin flip flops!! Aren't they fun?? SO cute for a little girl to wear on her birthday!
What you need:

200 Water Balloons

Flip Flops

Double knot the water balloons around the thong of the flip flop. It looks best if you do a pattern of your color choice. For instance, pink, green, purple, blue, yellow, orange, repeat. Make sure the knot is on the outside part of the flip flop. You will tie 50 balloons on each thong part. It takes about an hour to do a pair of flip flops.
Have fun!

Picture Preview

My super doooper talented friend Katie Jo is gifted in so many ways! (check out her blog here)Recently, she's taken up photography and was asked to do a wedding this summer. So, when she asked me if we'd be willing to help her out by being her "models" so she could get a little more practice, I of course said yes! So, here are just a couple of pictures she has sent so far, I can't wait to see the rest!

Prestige Family Chiropractic

So, do you remember in an earlier (waaaay earlier, find it here) post when I spoke of a Chiropractic Office I'd be designing... well, it's finally beginning to take shape! A few things have changed since our original meetings (locations, colors, etc) but it's starting to come together! SO exciting!
Below is the carpet tile we'll be using with a possible paint swatch (bottom right)
I don't think he'll be using this (nearly $1000) chair, but I do plan on incorporating a lot of that great terra cotta color as an accent!
Some fun artwork that I liked!

Keeping our fingers crossed that he'll be up and running by beginning of July!
