Nail Shellac

This weekend my mom and I got manicures! It was much fun, as time with my mom always is:)
There is a newer product out called Shellac.

It's a gel nail product that is applied over your natural nail in several layers, using a UV lamp to harden the gel product between each layer. It costs more than regular polish, but is said to resist chipping and fading and can last as long as three weeks. So far the thing I love most is that it's so shiney! It's day two, and I'm still a huge fan:) If my manicure really lasts three weeks, I just might be Shellac's biggest fan.

Exciting News To Share!

I am finally so excited to announce a new opportunity that has opened up for me!
After a long, (and sort of grueling) hiring process I was offered an interior design position with Duncan Aviation! They have designed private jets for clients like Oprah, and the owner of the New York Yankees. At the present time they're working with Michael Bloomberg and Billy Graham! I am SO excited that this worked out for me!
My initial interview was much like any job interview. BUT, my second interview was a design practicum! Where I actually was given a "client" and had to design his jet! I had one week to complete my design and then had to present it to a panel of people from Duncan Aviation. Here's my project board: (along with my carpet and additional fabric samples)

I will try so hard to keep my blog up-to-speed during this transition! In the meantime, I am also working with a builder in Lincoln designing two "parade" homes, on top of some other design jobs I'm doing! Needless to say, there's a lot going on right now:)
I definitely appreciate all of my loyal followers.
Have a great weekend!

Valentine's Day!

I am one lucky girl! :)
This morning I was delivered 18 (yes, eighteen!) red roses from Tim!
Beautiful. :)
I also got an iPhone! I LOVE IT! This is one amazing phone, let me tell ya!
The apps that this phone has are SO cool! One of my favcorites is called "scanner." I can go to Target (or wherever) and if I find an item I fall in love with - let's say it's a new camera, I can scan the barcode and my phone will tell me the place in Omaha where it can be purchased at the lowest price!!! SO COOL! Also, I have no need for a Garmin anymore b/c my phone can be my navigation system. But my most favorite feature so far is the video cam! I had this on my old phone, but it was old and the video was always so unclear. I can now send Tim video of Wilson (I think I sent him 6 this weekend, lol)! I love it!
So far, I HIGHLY recommend this amazing phone!!
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope lots of love surrounded you today.

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope your day is filled with lots of love!
Happy Valentine's Day!

blogoversary bday

Exactly one year ago today, I wrote my very first post on this blog! In such a short time blogging has quite literally changed my life; I’ve found a wonderful creative outlet, and I’ve had the chance to meet some incredibly amazing and talented people. All I wanted a space to share my home projects and some of my favorite things, but I got so much more than that! And for that I thank all of YOU!

This year has meant so much to me. Thank you to everyone for visiting my petite blog and for all your lovely comments, you are all amazing and I appreciate every one of you!

I know the future holds some wonderful things, and as I leap forward I hope you will continue to travel along on this journey with me!

And to give back & say thank you in a small way, I am giving away a copy of the coveted Domino: the Book of Decorating {a MUST have}; if you already own one, enter any ways and pass it along to a lucky friend :) This book is a constant reference to me!

A Little Taste of What I Do!

About one month ago, a young couple visited our showroom looking for a tile backsplash to compliment their new cabinets and countertop! They knew they wanted something fun and "out of the ordinary." Here's a look at what I helped them come up with!
Isn't it fun?!
I LOVE seeing the finished product!

What Matters Most

Recently this billboard was posted right in front of my workplace.
I love seeing this every day. :)
A reminder for me of the really important things in life.

Bedroom Love!

Just a few of my favorite bedrooms (for today anyway, this will all change tomorrow you know)!  ;)
So peaceful...
 Love the mirrors...
 One more view...

Mirror, Mirror on the wall... :)
Aren't these fun?!?
Hmmm... do you see a light blue trend?!?
Funny that this is the exact color of our bedroom too!
Love it. :)

 Fun for a guest room!

Miss America 2011!

Congratulations to the youngest Miss America ever...
MISS NEBRASKA!
Pretty cool, huh?!?
Last year Miss Nebraska finished as a semi-finalist. But this is the first time ever that Miss Nebraska has earned the crown. Way to represent, Miss Nebraska! :)

Bushel and a Peck

I saw this printable poster online today and had to share it!
It brought back an instant childhood memory!
Remember the song...
I love you, a bushel and a peck. A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck. A hug around the neck, and a barrel and a heap. A barrel and a heap and I'm talkin' in my sleep about you.
I remember as grandchildren singing that song to my grandma and grandpa at their big 50th wedding anniversary celebration! What a neat memory.

Cleaning For A Reason

If you know any woman currently undergoing chemotherapy, please pass the word to her that there is a cleaning service that provides FREE housecleaning - once per month for 4 months while she is in treatment. All she has to do is sign up and have her doctor fax a note confirming the treatment. Cleaning for a Reason will have a participating maid service in her zip code area arrange for the service. This organization serves the entire USA and currently has 547 partners to help these women. Be a blessing to someone and pass this information along. If you know someone in need, it may take a month on a waiting list to get started because of high demand, so notify them well ahead of time to set start cleaning date.

Let's Say Thanks!

If you visit the above website you can pick out a postcard of your choice, Xerox will print it and send it to a soldier that is serving overseas! How cool and easy is that?!?
This will only take a minute of your time and is so very worth it!

Changes in 2011!!!

Lately I've been thinking this old blog needs a  facelift! It's hard to believe, but I'm in the 4th year of blogging!!! WOW! I can hardly believe it has been 4 YEARS! In those four years I haven't done anything different with my blog, so I'm thinking its time for some changes! Maybe even a totally new website?!?!? Stay tuned.

Catching Up!

I decided to take a much needed little break from the blog world between Christmas and New Years! It was great, but now I'm all refreshed and ready to start up again! I feel like I need to share some pictures to catch you all up!
Although our time together went by waaaay to fast, Tim got to come home for Christmas!!! I can't explain how awesome it was.
Wilson was pretty excited to see his Dad!

 Opening Presents!

All of those presents made my boys tired:)
One of my gifts from my parents was a new set of Cross Country Skis! Trying them out for the first time...
Mom and I with the dogs (their new place in the background)
Wilson cracks me up in this pic!

Happy New Year!

Goodbye 2010, HELLO 2011!!
